If you’re above 6 feet and are tired of working on a wobbly desk, then it’s high time to get a desk that can go higher. It can make a huge impact on your productivity and mood. So do not settle for almost there, you do have choices.

We’ve rounded up stable desks that can really go higher for folks who are above 6 feet.

Our Top Picks: Best Standing Desks People Taller than 6 Feet

A suitable desk can enhance your productivity and help keep you in the work zone. And a desk that can’t go higher than what you need can do the opposite.

Here are standing desks that might just do the trick.

Progressive Desk

Available size:  48” x 30”, 55” x 28”,  60” x 30”,  72” x 30”

Weight capacity: 270 lbs

Height range: 24”-49”

Adjustment speed:  1.57/sec

Marketed as a high-end desk, we were not left disappointed. Taller people will be able to use the max height of the desk and it will be able to hold its ground.

The construction of the desk is overall stable and no wobbles at all. It is solidly built and you’ll not be able to find a weak spot.

You can tell that it has lots of muscles, and the frame, and the tabletop pack a lot of weight. That’s one thing to keep in mind when setting it up. It is extremely heavy and it can be listed as a disadvantage should you be setting it up solo.

The finish and the quality of the frame and the legs are at par with the expectations set by the brand. Though there is nothing fancy to it, these are pretty simple-looking desks and the operation is straightforward, you will be able to tell where all that money went.

The motor is very smooth, it doesn’t stop nor jerk at any point, even when used to the highest setting. It feels and operates like a refined and regal desk, quite smooth, fast, and with no noise.

For the improvements, we’d love to have more tabletop options. And while operating the desk is pretty simple,  it would be nicer if there should be a more straightforward instruction on how to set up the desk.

DeskHaus Apex Pro

Available sizes:   42″ x 12″ x 8″

Weight capacity: 600 lbs

Height range: 22.5″ – 48.5″

Adjustment speed: 1.5″ /sec

This is an underrated desk that deserves some serious attention. Not only can it go high enough for those who are taller than 6 feet, but the overall construction of this desk is quite beefy and solid.

Even when used on all heights, it will not shake or wobble. This is also one of the few taller desks that can also function smoothly even on high pile carpet floors.

So if you have such scenarios,  this may be the best one to get. Though there can be a slight side-to-side wobble if you forcefully push the desk, other than that it can stand still as a rock.

The desk, despite being placed on carpeted floors can be perfectly leveled and plumb, contributing to the overall stability, even when used at the highest height.

What we want to improve are the clunky wires, they look and feel kind of cheap. It doesn’t look like it is made of high-quality materials like the other parts of the desks.

Flexispot E7 PRO

Available size: 47.2″-80″ D: 24″-30″

Weight capacity: 440 lbs

Height range: 25”-50.6”

Adjustment speed: 1.5″/ sec

If you are a fan of Flexispot desks and need to find one that can go higher, we highly recommend this unit. This brand is a household name when it comes to decent desks with a more affordable price tag. Most of their entry-level and midrange units have some sort of wobbles, both side to side and back to front. The newer E7 PRO gets rid of these limitations.

The tabletop desks are also pretty wide and deep, perfect if you’ve multiple monitor setups. And since it has a higher weight capacity, this will indulge a busy workstation. And oh, the wooden tabletop is gorgeous and can satisfy your fancy for a regal workstation.  Just keep in mind that it can be quite heavy.

This is one of the more reasonably priced standing desks that remains stable for taller people

This is an extremely well-built minimalist standing desk. You can see the workmanship and the materials outright. You can tell that this is going to be very solid and stable.

The Terra desk is not just valued for its aesthetics, but it’s one of the more environmentally friendly units in the brand. So this can also make environmentally conscious folks very happy.

The finish of the tabletop looks very smooth and well designed, too good looking for something that is environment friendly.

Buying Guide: What To Look for

While the desk going high enough is one of the main prerequisites, let’s dive into the other important details too.

Desk height

First things first, you need the unit to be able to go higher than 42”, well at least 44” if you’re fancying a more solid and steady desk.

Frames, leg built, and overall construction

Other crucial parts of the desk are the legs and frames, these are the foundations of the desk.   How are they built? Are the legs thick and solid enough? Wobbly and thin legs or frames don’t spark any confidence.

If the legs and frame are sturdy, you have more assurance that the desks can be steady at all heights.

Smooth and fast transition

A smoothly operating desk can enhance your productivity and can make you more focused at work. We made sure that the units we chose did not stop or jerk.

Where We Stand

While we are all for desks that can go higher for taller people, these are not the only things that can make you more focused at work.

These desks need to be more beefy and solid. Given that these units need to go higher and carry on the load as they move, they should be made of more quality materials.

Transition speed is also one of the things we looked for. We picked desks that are quite speedy and quiet too, this ensures that the motor is also made of high-quality materials. Thus ensuring that the desk will be able to hold its ground for years to come.

We also Tried these Desks

Though going high enough for a six footer, these desks did not quite made the cut.

Lifease 70-inch desk

This desk may able to go high enough for those taller than 6 feet,. The height range is higher than 42” but we had some issues when it comes to the stability of the desk. There are some wobbles as the desk goes higher. When you forcefully push the desk front to back or side to side, there is significant shaking too.

Rise Up

This desk can go up to 50”, so it can indeed be useful for folks taller than 6 feet.  However, the overall construction of the desk did not tick all the boxes in our list. It felt quite steady, yes,  but the shorter 3-year warranty made us question the beefiness of the desk.

How we tested

Our team tested the desks based on these parameters.

They should be able to go higher than 44”, ideally going to as high as 50”. Our core group consists of folks stag 6 feet to 6 ‘4″.

Aside from the height, we tested the desks for the beefiness of the legs and frames. The motor and the transition speed should also be quite fast, smooth, and steady. These are the things that can make you more focused at work.

These desks don’t just go high enough, there’s more

Getting a desk that can be higher than 44” is one thing. But to be able to ensure productivity, we handpicked standing desks that can tick the items needed for a more productive workplace.
